BCCEAS received funding from the Community Mobilization Program of the National Crime Prevention Centre to look into how policy guidelines and relationships between police, designated agencies and people in communities who are working to prevent and address crimes against seniors.
The Community and the Criminal Justice System Working Together as Partners Project involved research and liaising, and its outcomes include research findings, recommendations, and an Education Kit.

This twenty-five page report was Prepared by Pearl McKenzie in February, 2005. It summarizes the research work conducted by BCCEAS, barriers and problems faced, and recommendations for training and collaboration between police and designated agency staff and for further protocol or guideline development.

Community and Justice System Working Together Education Kit
This Eduation Kit developed by BCCEAS includes information sheets for seniors and people who help seniors, an overhead presentation with handouts for people working together in communities, a sample of a small card that can be given to police officers to carry, the video “A Future for Ellen” and a discussion guide.
This information was created to foster training and collaboration between police, designated agency staff and the community.
