Three or more adults who are not related by blood or marriage to the operator

In order to be considered assisted living, a residence must provide prescribed services to at least three adults who are not relatives of the operator. Homes that provide services to one or two adults to whom they are not related, or to any number of adults to whom they are related by blood or marriage, do not need to be registered as assisted living residences because they do not meet the definition of an assisted living residence under theĀ Community Care and Assisted Living Act.
