dial-a-law_cover_imageDial-a-Law had started as a phone service, hence the name. The ‘scripts’ that had been used for the phone service are now also stored and updated online.

It is a free service which offers general information on a variety of topics on law in British Columbia.

It is available in English, Chinese and Punjabi by telephone and on the Internet.

Dial-A-Law is still available by phone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Call 604.687.4680 in the Lower Mainland or 1.800.565.5297 in British Columbia.

After listening to the welcome message, please select a language:

  • press “1” for English
  • press “2” for Chinese

After selecting your language, you may:

  • press “1” to enter the script number you would like to listen to

  • press “2” for a complete list of topics

  • press “3” to request a brochure

  • press “4” for the Lawyer Referral Service telephone numbers and hours of operation

  • press “8 to repeat the message

  • To disconnect, please hang up

Dial-a-law scripts are now available as a ‘wikibook.’  You can download the full wikibook as a pdf file here.   You can download as an epub file to use in an e-reader here.   You can also order a hard copy to be mailed to you, for $US43.65 + shipping here.
