Victim Services Program
This program provides pratical and emotional support to older adults who have experienced abuse or are victims of crime. We provide assistance over the phone and callers may remain anonymous. This service is available whether or not the older adult has reported the incident to the police or to anyone else.
Our victim services worker can provide the following assistance:
- Emotional Support
- Assitance with referral to another program
- Information about the Justice System
- A listening ear to help make them decide whether or not to report the abuse
- Assistance telling police, doctors or other professionals about what has happened
Older adults who wish to speak to someone about what has happened to them shall call our Senior’s Help and Information Line between 10:00am and 3:00 pm, Monday to Friday to be referred to the Victim Services Program.
The number is 604-437-1940 or toll free 1-866-437-1940.
Our Victim Services Program works collaboratively with other local and provincial programs. We raise awareness about abuse and crimes against older adults and we look for ways to partner with other service providers.
